A Midsummer Night's Dream
The play is set in Ancient Athens but our setting is in the 'Athena' nightclub in 60's 'swinging' London. While the text is not altered, this setting does present a more modern and urban setting for the well known and loved production. It portrays the events surrounding the marriage of the Duke of Athens, Theseus, and the Queen of the Amazons, Hippolyta. These include the adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of amateur actors, who are manipulated by the fairies who inhabit the forest in which most of the play is set.
The play is one of Shakespeare's most popular works for the stage and is widely performed across the world.
For this performance there is NO online booking fee (Hanham Players will pay this). If seats are selected well behind those booked and sold, the company reserves the right to reallocate seating closer to the stage (i.e. the back row will not be used or set out).
