British flautist Emily Andrews and Colombian guitarist Francisco Correa met in France in 2011 at a music festival where they were both teaching and performing. They immediately clicked musically and personally, and married in France before settling in England, where they both perform and teach at the highest levels.
Both prizewinning soloists and Royal Academy of Music graduates, Emily and Francisco are accomplished musicians, and their relationship as husband and wife gives their performances a tangible intimacy. This intimacy is particularly apparent when they perform the Latin American folk songs which Francisco grew up with, taught to Emily, and now they perform for their two sons. Tonight's programme will have a Latin-American flavour, including some of these folk songs, and some Colombian instrumental music, alongside more traditional classical flute and guitar repertoire by Telemann, Piazzolla, Castelnuovo-Tedesco, and Schubert.
