Action for Children
For 150 years, Action for Children has been providing a broad range of expert services to support some of the UK’s most vulnerable children and young people, from before they are born until they are in their twenties.
It is truly shocking that every week in the UK, which is the world’s fifth largest economy, a child dies at the hands of their parents or carers. That today 1 in 4 children in the UK live in poverty. That 1 in 10 children suffer neglect or abuse. And too many children are disadvantaged because of disability.
We believe this is unacceptable and at Action for Children, we have an ambition where any child who needs help, gets help.
This is why we run parenting support programmes, short break disability centres, fostering and adoption programmes and a range of family support services.
In all, we have a team of 5000 staff working in over 550 locations across the UK, reaching over 300,000 children, young people and families every year.
But the needs of children in the UK are increasing and with austerity cuts to government funding, we need to build broad and resilient support for our cause from the UK public by growing our supporter base.
We need to accelerate our impact for the children and young people who need us the most.
