10.30am - 12.30pm Paper Cutting with Erica Frances George Erica is based in Brynberian, Pembrokeshire. She’s been playing with sharp knives for a decade and has honed her skills to produce staggeringly intricate paper-cut designs. Her designs have been used on t-shirts, branding campaigns and even tattoos. Erica will have different design templates for you to use, which you will learn to cut and take away. She will show you some surprising applications-from stencilling, to block printing. FRIDAY Nov 1 1.30 - 3.30pm Needle Felt a Cat Face Brooch with Ruth Packham MS1Ruth is an artist/maker/felter and uses British wool fibre to make her quirky creations. She works from her coastal studio in Borth. Her background is fine art, installation, video and printmaking but she’s now a full-time felt maker, mesmerised by wool as a material. Wool is a wonder as it can be wet and shrunk, used as a drawing material, moulded and sculpted. Discover the magic of needle felting and make your own cat brooch. Needle felting is a simple, accessible technique whereby using a barbed needle to stab into the wool fibre it is possible to sculpt the wool. Ruth has been needle felting for many years and will guide you through the process of creating your own unique cat brooch, using her own design as a guide. Saturday Nov 2nd 10.15am- 12.15pm Make a Leather Dog Collar with Nia Denman MS1Craft a custom made leather dog collar in this two hour workshop. Learn the skills necessary for making a basic collar and then have the opportunity to personalise and decorate with rivets, embossing, hole punching and stitching. Skills covered in the workshop include cutting hide/leather, hole punching, bevelling and burnishing edges, riveting, skiving leather, embossing and saddle stitching. Option for 20mm or 25mm width brass buckle. Please come prepared with your dogs neck measurements. Pull the measuring tape snug but not tight around your dogs neck. (If you do not have a tape measure, you can use a piece of string and then measure the string with a rigid ruler.) Allow sufficient room to slip two fingers between the collar and the dog's neck. SATURDAY Nov 2 12.45 - 2.45 Carve a silver ring with Maggie Cross Maggie Cross is a jewellery design graduate from Birmingham School of Jewellery and uses casting techniques to make her jewellery. Have fun making something special with a personal touch. In the two hours with Maggie you’ll carve a unique, one-of-a-kind ring using jewellers wax and a selection of tools. You have the optional extra of your bespoke wax ring being sent to a casting company in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter who will cast the wax into solid silver using the process of lost wax casting. The rings are then hand-finished and posted back to you. The workshop includes materials (silver casting is extra) and postage of your finished ring, but does not include entry in to Craft Festival, please book an entrance ticket. Wax Carving Workshop Price £18, without silver casting. Optional extra: silver casting and return post, £40, payable directly to Maggie on the day.

She will be teaching free-stitch embroidery with added appliqué techniques using a sewing machine. You will also be taught how to embroider onto water-soluble fabric. These exciting techniques will give you plenty of ideas for further projects. Saturday November 2nd 3-5pm Mini Bookbinding with Carole King Make a bunch of delightful little mini books and house them in a perfect silver box. Learn a variety of simple bookbinding techniques to create concertina books, pamphlets with ribbons and beads, a book with a simple button closure, stab stitch bindings and others. In a couple of hours Carole will teach you all the necessary techniques to create a beautiful gift box full of delightful little books. The workshop includes all materials but does not include entrance to Craft Festival. Please purchase an entrance ticket.
