Join us for the third in our summer series of talks at Butser Ancient Farm.
Last summer the team at Butser Ancient Farm began an ambitious project to create a mosaic in the heart of the Roman Villa. This is thought to be the first time in millennia that a mosaic has been laid directly on the floor using traditional Roman techniques of design and construction in Britain. Over 150,000 tesserae later, join Project Co-ordinator Sue Webber to learn the story behind the building of the Butser mosaic and what we can reveal about mosaic making in the ancient past. This talk will involve the opportunity to visit the villa to see the mosaic first hand.
There will be five talks throughout the summer on a Thursday evening. Doors open at 6.30 with the talk to start at 7.00. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate will be available to purchase in the shop.
