Evening Talk: Otzi - a Motive for Murder with Mark Havey

Butser Ancient Farm, Hampshire, PO8 0BG
Thu 20th June 2019

Join us for the second in our summer series of talks at Butser Ancient Farm.

Join ancient survival expert Mark Havey as he unravels a 5000-year-old murder mystery and examines the evidence and motives behind the death of Otzi the Iceman. In 1991 a frozen body was discovered by hikers, emerging from the thawing ice deep within the Alps. Due to the incredible preservation of the body, which has been dated to between 3400 and 3100BC, archaeologists have been able to reveal many aspects of Otzi’s life and the world he inhabited… including the grizzly details of his death. However why he was killed remains a puzzling mystery, Mark will explore theories and evidence that spotlight a sinister crime from millennia ago.

There will be five talks throughout the summer on a Thursday evening. Doors open at 6.30 with the talk to start at 7.00. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate will be available to purchase in the shop.
