Treppenwitz/Drawing Hands album launch

This night will see the dual album launch of two Leeds-based jazz projects, Treppenwitz and Drawing Hands, on New Jazz Records.

Drawing Hands are a Leeds-based quartet led by composer and double-bassist Sam Jackson. They primarily perform original music inspired by classical counterpoint, traditional English folk and 21st century jazz. This night will marks the release of their second album on New Jazz Records, 'March' - a suite of twelve newly composed and closely entwined pieces.

Treppenwitz is a project dedicated to improvisation and the exploration of sounds within open structures. It was formed in January 2014 after (though not because) a Philadelphian drummer, Matthew McGraw, left the city of Leeds. The music they make can be seen as an indirect response to this. This night sees the launch of their new release, Short and Long Ditties.
