JB Priestly writes this story of a gutsy Birkenhead Market worker who rallies her fellow stallholders to prevent it’s takeover and demolition by a department store chain. An uplifting musical knockabout comedy, and one of the most popular films of it’s time. Accompanied by a short film of Gracie Fields visiting Chorley 80 years ago.

Presented in association with Chorley Council and made possible with a grant from the People's Postcode Community Fund.
