Hysterical Showcase

"It's the history of authoritative men pitting a woman against her own mysterious, unruly body, a body that disqualified her from positions of power and a general sense of autonomy" - Alison Espach

Whether you're someone who loves to see new pieces of writing performed by a diverse group of talented performers, or an actor on the look out for some fresh monologue material, Hysterical Showcase is the night for you! Hysterical Showcase is a new monologue performance and networking event founded by three female actors and writers; India Hammond, Izzy Danilczuk and Rhondda Rhiannon. For around 100 years, hysteria was a legitimate medical condition shown by symptoms of over-dramatising or excessive emotion that was caused by a defect in the womb. This gendered notion has intrinsically affected current societal perceptions of gender and emotion. At Hysterical Showcase, we wish to reclaim this word and create a space where women can showcase their stories, their art and their work - and get as emotional as they like in the process.
