Fjords, Fells and Folk
Fjords, Fells and Folk
Travels around the heart of western Norway
Norway and Scotland are often linked in discussion of politics, environment and economy. But what’s the reality of Scotland’s beautiful northern neighbour? Kenny Taylor and Vanessa Halhead have decades of experience to share of travel, work, friendships, culture and environment in Norway.
Their recent exploration of the mighty Sognefjord and its nearby glaciers, fells, farms and forests will be a spectacular backdrop, with thoughts on many different aspects of life in the heart of fjord country to the fore. Using images, words and audio, this will be a journey through landscapes, art and ideas; from local resources to community resilience. About how Norway and Scotland are linked – and separated – in ways that land and nature are viewed and used and how people value their home place.
Food for thought and a feast for the eyes: in Resolis Hall at 7:30pm on Wednesday 23rd January. (Doors open at 7pm so you can view the 'epic stage story' exhibition - details below).
Resolis are the proud hosts to this pop-up exhibition, celebrating the history of live performance events in the Highlands & Islands, which was commissioned by The Touring Network in their 20th year, and funded by Heritage Lottery Fund and Creative Scotland. It features a beautiful film by Beth Chalmers "If We Didn’t Have All That" as well as lovely interactive features and a chance to pin your own Epic Stage Story on the map!
It will be at Resolis Memorial Hall from on the 23rd, the evening of the 'Fjords, Fells and Folk' talk and we encourage you to come down early at 7pm and have a play! If you’re not able to come and see it in action, be sure to check out and add to the Epic Stage Story digital archive here: https://epicstagestory.thetouringnetwork.com/
