IGF’s Guitar in London Series presents Emmanuel Sowicz

Welcome to the first event in our new Guitar in London concert series! During 2019 we present young talent as well as more established guitarists from around the world, including many UK debuts as well as premieres of new commissioned work. The venue is the beautiful, intimate Cervantes Theatre located in an exciting, rapidly developing part of London, south of the river. We kick off with amazing young Chilean guitarist Emmanuel Sowicz, winner of IGF’s London International Guitar Competition in October 2018.

Tom Kerstens, Artistic Director, IGF

The Chilean press has described Emmanuel Sowicz (1992) as “the next star of the guitar” (Radio Beethoven FM). In 2017 he was awarded First Prize and the Audience Award at the XLIV Dr. Luis Sigall International Music Competition in Viña del Mar – Latin America’s most prestigious classical music competition. In 2018 he became a EuroStrings Young Artist after winning First Prize at the London International Guitar Competition. Emmanuel is also an IGF Young Artist Platform (YAP) artist in 2018/19.

Programme includes J.S. Bach (Trans: Emmanuel Sowicz), Toru Takemitsu, Johann Kaspar Mertz, Domenico Scarlatti (Trans: Emmanuel Sowicz), Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco and the 2018 IGF Commission by Joe Cutler entitled Marinus.
