Firm favorites on the European festival and roots circuit, this exciting acoustic four-piece take a refreshing un-pretentious and uncommonly skilled run at some of the greatest music in the world. Craobh Rua (pronounced ‘Crave Roo-Ah’ meaning ‘Red Branch’) plays Irish Traditional Music from the heart. A rich sound, acoustic driven, this is traditional Celtic fare at its finest, mixing rousing jigs, reels and polkas with tender ballads and airs.  Theirs is a music driven by uillean pipes, fiddle, whistles and the exciting banjo and mandolin playing of group founder Brian Connolly with passionate vocals from Jim Rainey.

Regarded around the globe as true ambassadors of Irish music, they are impeccable musicians with arrangements that are all their own and have been likened to the first wave of the Irish folk revival of the sixties and seventies. On stage they have performed with De Dannan, Alan Stivell and even taken the stage in Italy in an Ireland meets Mongolia collaboration with Egschiglen from Outer Mongolia! On television they have appeared in the BBC TV series The Shetlands Sessions, S4C TV and also on BBC Music Live when they played live in front of millions of viewers on BBC2.
