Cold IRON Ghost Stories at St George's Church
Cold IRON Ghost stories book launch
We can’t wait for this! Over the last 18 months editors Peter Mortimer and Eileen Jones have been inviting, gathering together, reading and selecting new unpublished ghost stories written in the 21st century. The result is a group of 17 tales chosen from almost 200 written by authors both established and unknown and spread throughout the UK.
The selected stories pay homage to the tradition of the ghost story while placing it firmly in the context of our own times. Thus, ghosts appear on football terraces, in cancer wards, on the floor of TV shows, on the late night service bus, over a Sunday dinner, at a supermarket checkout and near a council grass-cutting machine.
Four of the authors will read extracts for our midnight launch in this spectacular French gothic church which, perched on its Cullercoats cliff top, dominates the skyline. To add to the atmosphere, the church organ is played by Patrick Hodson.
Many thanks to St. George’s Church Cullercoats andFather Adrian Hughes for making the venue available and at the bewitching hour of midnight.
