What would beer look like if yeast had its moment? At the recent Beavertown Extravaganza we asked ourselves that question in an interesting debate that featured brewers including Brasserie de la Senne’s Yvan de Baets and Heretic’s Jamil Zainacheff. In a world of ever more hop forward beers, are we neglecting to give beers most eclectic ingredient the level of attention it deserves?
Join Good Beer Hunting’s UK Editor Matthew Curtis and food & beer writer Claire Bullen as we taste our way through four beers that derive their fundamental flavours from yeast. This is the second a series of tastings that take a closer look at the fundamentals of beer, whether they might be malt, hops, yeasts or even adjuncts. In the Good Beer Hunting tradition, we’ll be pouring samples of beer liberally and Claire will also prepare a small food pairing to try alongside one of the beers (it won’t be substantial however, and we do recommend eating before you arrive.)
We’ll be tasting through the following four beer styles (beers TBC):
Tickets are just £16.50 (plus booking fee) per person – however if you’re a member of our Fervent Few subscriber community we’ll give you a code for 10% off the ticket price. We look forward to sharing “the yeast of our problems” with you down at Hop Burns & Black soon!
