Islay Book Festival 2019: The Folklore and Personalities of Argyll

Cyber Bistro, Isle of Islay, PA42 7BJ
Sun 1st September 2019
Ronnie Black, widely acknowledged to be one of the greatest living Scottish Gaelic scholars, walks us through an exploration of the folklore and personalities of Argyll, with a focus on Islay, Jura and Colonsay. Drawing on material from several of his books, including The Gaelic Otherworld and The Campbells of the Ark, Ronnie also introduces his team’s project to translate the Dewar Manuscripts, a massive collection of Gaelic historical tales made in the 1860s and stored in the archives of Inveraray Castle.
