We are celebrating the 100th birthday of the guitar composer, arranger, teacher, writer and pipe smoker John W. Duarte with a concert of music spanning nearly five decades.
The music will include his
Variations on a Catalan Folk song op.25, written for John Williams in 1956,
Badinerie op.32a, written for the Presti/Lagoya duo and here given its world première,
Suite Piemontese op.46,
Sua Cosa op.52 (Wes Montgomery memorial),
English Suite no.2 op.77,
12 Studies op.140, written for Antonio De Innocentis,
Moraviana op.142, written for Vladislav Blaha
the European première of the Joan Baez Suite op.144, written for Sharon Isbin.
As a small digestif there will also be some of Duarte's Gershwin song arrangements.
