Oxford University Orchestra
Oxford University Orchestra is the flagship ensemble of the Oxford University Music Society, selecting the very best instrumentalists that the University has to offer and combining them with a professional guest conductor.
In Hilary 2019, OUO will feature Shostakovich's 7th Symphonoy: Leningrad. The piece was finished in 1940 and quickly became popular as a symbol of resistance to the Nazi regime. It is still regarded as the major musical testament to Soviet loss of life during World War II. Joining us as guest conductor for this concert will be Peter Stark (biography). The concert will be performed in the historic Sheldonian Theatre in the heart of Oxford on Thursday 7th February 2019 at 8pm.
In Trinity 2019, OUO will be joined us by Cayenna Ponchione (biography) as guest conductor. The concert will, once again, be performed in the Sheldonian Theatre on Saturday 25th May 2019 at 8pm.
The Orchestra thoroughly enjoys putting on its performances and hopes to do so for many years to come. Unfortunately, ticket money alone cannot support all the costs of the Orchestra and we are very grateful to the Friends of OUO for their generous donations. If you would be interested in becoming a Friend of OUO please contact Sarah Jenkinson (Friends' Secretary email@example.com).
