Pickhams has been the home of summer art shows and workshops for several years and in 2016 the enchanting hidden gardens were opened to the public for the first time with a trail map leading charmed visitors around the array of temporary art installations and sculptures.
In 2017 the first Summer Trifle Festival was born, with the help of Big Lottery funding and was repeated in 2018. The events and gardens were made accessible in most areas to wheelchair users thanks to a grant from Chalk Cliff Trust.
For 2019 new events have been added at other times of the year which include many workshops and activities, art and sculpture exhibitions, live music, garden murals and fascinating art installations to see in the grounds.
Summer Trifle is a not for profit organisation. We rely on donations from visitors to the gardens (open only during events) and all events are either self funding or funded by grants.
