"Where there is power, there is resistance." – Michel Foucault
Join Apricity Theatre for this day-long intensive workshop, where you will explore and re-imagine power within traditional two-person texts. In a matter of hours you will analyse existing power dynamics within a scene, develop a performance that redefines the character arcs, relationships and power-play within it, and then stage it using directing and performance techniques to highlight the fresh narratives you have built.
You will work with director Charlotte Turner-McMullan and fight director Russell Eccleston to build worlds, create tension and explore new possibilities. Playing with Power is for actors and directors with some experience of performance who are interested in making the old new, reinterpreting familiar stories and creating progressive, political theatre.
Please note that a theatre restoration levy of £1 per ticket applies to all transactions, whether made in person at our Box Office, by post or by phone, for all payment types. Telephone bookings incur an additional £1.75 booking fee per transaction.
