Alan Barnes + Eleven is a celebration of popular sax player Alan’s 60th birthday this year. In Alan’s birth year – 1959 - a classic recording Art Pepper + Eleven
was released, with arrangements by Marty Paich, featuring Art Pepper as the main soloist throughout.
With this in mind, Alan has commissioned superb composer and trombonist Mark Nightingale to write 13 arrangements for 12 piece big band. All of the tunes are from 1959, including 'Boogie Stop Shuffle' by Mingus, 'Naima' by Coltrane, 'Blowin’ the Blues Away' by Silver and 'Dreamsville' by Mancini.
Alan is very excited about this project and the arrangements feature solos from every musician in the band.
