Piano virtuoso Gwilym Simcock has played at Watermill Jazz in various formats, from The Impossible Gentlemen to an incredible evening sharing 2 pianos with German pianist Michael Wollny.
Having won many awards for his playing and composition, Gwilym moves effortlessly between jazz and classical music, creating a sound that is very much his own. He works with orchestras, choirs, big bands, small ensembles and musicians from all areas of music including jazz, folk, pop and classical, combining through-composed elements with improvisation. Most recently, he has been working with US guitarist Pat Metheny.
For this concert, Gwilym Simcock’s brilliant trio mixes Simcock’s thrilling, melodic compositions with imaginative interpretations of great classics such as ‘Black Coffee’ and ‘Cry Me A River’.
