Reuben James Trio

Watermill Jazz, Dorking, RH4 1NZ
Tue 30th July 2019

Reuben James is a singer, songwriter and pianist, well known for his work with Sam Smith. Reuben co-wrote some of the tracks on Smith’s most recent album.

Reuben won a scholarship to the prestigious Trinity College of Music in London before being named Rising Star at the 2014 British Jazz Awards.

Raised on an eclectic mix of jazz, gospel, hip hop and classical music, Reuben’s confident, flowing approach belies his years, and is reflected in his genre-defying approach to music. Reuben recently showcased his music live on Jamie Cullum’s Radio 2 Jazz Show in anticipation of his forthcoming EP.

Reuben has been a popular face at Watermill Jazz since he first appeared as a teenager with the late US trumpet player Abram Wilson. Tonight Reuben will be playing jazz standards and some of his own compositions.
