Owen Rhoscomyl (or Arthur Owen Vaughan, or Robert Scourfield Milne) was an unusual figure in Wales at the threshold of the twentieth century. He was an adventurer, cowboy, soldier, novelist, romanticist, imperial royalist and keen to popularize the history of Wales. This is an attempt to evaluate his  contribution, a century since his death.
