The underwater surveys undertaken for the U-boat Project 1914–18: Commemorating the Welsh Experience of The Great War at Sea, have provided startling new views of some of the 170 wrecks on the seabed associated with combat. The research carried out in local and national archives has uncovered new information about the losses, as well as about the crews, passengers and links to our coastal communities. This talk will explore the many new directions that the research is now taking. Deanna Groom is the Senior Investigator (Maritime) for the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales.
