JOURNEY’S END (2017, UK, Saul Dibb, 1hr 45 mins, Cert 12A) is a drama that takes place during World War 1. Set in 1918, the story unfolds from a front line trench in France over a few days where a group of officers await their fate. The ensemble British cast includes Sam Claflin as the troubled Captain Stanhope, Asa Butterfield as newly arrived Second Lieutenant Raleigh and Toby Jones as the humorous cook Mason. This powerful, emotional, character-driven film offers a contrast to the action spectacle of Dunkirk.
