THE MAN WHO INVENTED CHRISTMAS (2017, Ire/Can, Bharat Nalluri, 1hr 42 mins, Cert PG) is a comedy about Charles Dickens, played by Downton Abbey's Dan Stevens, struggling with debt, begins work on a new book entitled 'A Christmas Carol'. A wonderful film weaving fiction, fact and fantasy as Dickens 'talks' to Ebenezer Scrooge (Christopher Plummer at his comedic best) about how best to write A Christmas Carol and repay his debts.
