R Vaughan Williams, Andrew Carter,
Paul Burke, Stephen Paulus,
Moses Hogan, Bob Chilcott.
Conducted by James Morley Potter
For this Summer's concert our talented MD James Morley Potter has devised a programme of music on a theme of travelling and journeys - appropriate for the season of holidays! Vaughan Williams' Songs of Travel are some of the finest solo songs in the repertoire, and James has arranged them into a set of songs for choir and piano which showcases these songs in a totally new and harmonious way.
The concert opens with some beautiful spirituals, continuing the theme of travelling in a physical and spiritual sense.
There's also another curiosity - the Didcot Haiku. Paul Burke, is the composer, and the poetic words are by James. It's a great piece, moving and whimsical, and we hope you'll enjoy it.
