Bluebells and Bury Ditches

Harley Jenkins Car Park, Bishop's Castle, SY9 5AH
Thu 16th May 2019
We car share from the Harley Jenkins Car Park, Bishop’s Castle to Bury Ditches Car Park (Grid Ref : SO 333 839).  To start the walk we go down a section of the Shropshire Way to Walcot wood and back to Bury ditches. Walcot wood is a fragment of a much larger deer park which once belonged to Clive of India. It has a million bluebells and 35 veteran oak trees some of which were seedlings when Elizabeth 1st was Queen. It is a nature walk and we will be stopping to look and listen for birdsong.  The second loop will take us up to the Iron Age Hill Fort to take a view over the south Shropshire landscape.
Bring a packed lunch and a drink.
