Brilliant Books - The Scandalous Clarice Cliff: From Facory to the Big Screen

Clarice Cliff came from poverty to become a leading
figure in the Art Deco world.  From the
grim industrial Midlands, she designed and oversaw the manufacture of over
eight million pieces. Scriptwriter Claire Peate will talk about her journey
bringing Cliff to the big screen. Claire is an award-winning scriptwriter and
novelist.  She has won the BAFTA
Rocliffe Film Scriptwriting Award
and the Creative Industries Award from the University of South Wales. Her
script, The Colour Room, a biopic feature on the ceramicist Clarice
Cliff, has been optioned by
Caspian Films and has been awarded funding from Ffilm Cymru.  Claire has
four novels published, has been nominated for Wales Book of the Year, was
twice WHSmith’s pick of the week, and has spoken at Hay Festival.
