The Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Railway now runs from just outside Cheltenham to Broadway in Worcestershire. On 22 June, it will be holding its real ale festival with bars at Winchcombe and Toddington stations. We begin with time at Winchcombe station. Those who want to spend the day riding on the railway may leave the tour at this point and rejoin it later (train travel is not included in the price of the trip). We will continue to the Fleece Inn at Bretforton, a renowned 15th century timber-framed pub owned by the National Trust, then backtrack to the attractive village of Broadway, which has a selection of pubs to offer. We finish at the Toddington Station beer festival bar where we all reunite.
We leave Cardiff (outside National Museum in Cathays Park) at 0900, Gabalfa (northbound bus stops on south side of interchange) at 0910 and Newport (junction of Pentonville and Queens Hill behind Station) at 0925 getting back to Cardiff around 2100. Fare £22, deposit £10.
