Imagine trying to make sense of the world around you. The general hustle and bustle of everyday life, along with the sensory overload that can occur and the ever changing social rules that we are faced with, all add to the confusion. Then throw into the mix additional needs such as autism or communication needs, it is no surprise that anxiety levels in an individual, especially those with additional needs, frequently reach an all time high. Often this can feel something like a firework waiting for the blue touch paper to be lit. In an attempt to gain some sort of control over the situation, many individuals will resort to the world of obsessions.
The aim of this workshop is not to get rid of obsession, but to provide insight into their reasons and how to gain some sort of balance. In so doing Mark will explore some of the issues relating to having additional needs and anxiety, including the display of obsessive behavior, how it can impact upon everyone involved and how to develop support and interventions as a way to reduce the consequences of being anxious. So come along to this practical and down to earth workshop and learn how to reduce the firework explosion.
