Chris Ingham Quartet featuring Mark Crooks - Getz: A Musical Portrait

Watermill Jazz, Dorking, RH4 1NZ
Tue 29th October 2019

Gifted tenor sax player Mark Crooks (woodwind star of the John Wilson Orchestra) joins the Chris Ingham trio to present Getz: A Musical Portrait. A widely-praised interpretation of the highlights of lyrical genius of US tenor saxophonist, Stan Getz, the evening will feature material from Getz’s repertoire from the 1940s to the 1980s. The music reflects Getz’s dedication to keeping his art fresh and vital with rarely-played gems and curiosities nestling among well-known titles.

"Crooks's tenor rises to the challenge...a performance that strikes a balance between muscle and lyricism" Sunday Times

".. the quartet is everything you could wish for – swinging, supple and, most importantly, always appropriate. Ingham’s mastery of the subtle differences in style is impressive"
