Reid Consort - Arvo Part Passio
Conducted by Cole Bendall and featuring the Instruments of the Reid.
A reflective and powerful concert featuring Arvo Part's epic Passio - an extended setting of the St John Passion first sketched when the composer was exiled from his native Estonia in the early 1980s. Subsequently published in 1989, the work is influenced by Medieval chant and single line settings of the Passion text but features Part's distinctive bell like voice and evocative writing for voices.
Capped off with choral works by Sarah Rimkus, Antonio Lotti and more, this concert bodes to be one of the highlights of the Edinburgh choral scene this Easter.
