TRANSITIONS: Owen Lowery

The Mill on the Fleet, Gatehouse of Fleet, DG7 2HS
Fri 3rd May 2019
Former Judo champion Owen Lowery suffered a spinal injury in 1987, became paralysed from the shoulders down and is now dependent on a ventilator to breathe. Alongside his own transition from able-bodied sports star to disabled poet, he explores themes of transition from climate change, metamorphosis, evolution and migration seen through the lens of poetry and film.

‘Otherwise Unchanged is a remarkable collection, combining technical poise and an expansive intellectual range ..... the collection represents a many-faceted journey worth sharing with Lowery from cover to cover.(Carol Rumens, The Guardian)
