Team Dragon Boat Racing at Glasgow Canal Festival

Speirs Wharf, Glasgow, G4 9TB
Sat 20th July 2019
PLEASE NOTE: Prices are per team and not per person!

Dragon Boat Racing is an ancient Chinese tradition and the fastest growing water activity in Britain today, not to mention the most exciting! Up to 11 people will paddle each 30’ boat with a drummer up front beating time and a helm at the tail steering a straight course. No previous experience is required, just plenty of team spirit!

After the fantastic success of the event in 2017 and 2018, we are delighted to announce the return of Dragon Boat Racing at the Glasgow Canal Festival in 2019. The festival will take place on Saturday 20th July 2019 and will offer live music, watersports, theatre, opera, boat tours, craft workshops, face painting, street food and much more. Dragon boat teams will race it out along the beautiful and historic Speirs Wharf throughout the day.

Included in your team ticket is a day of racing, with each team having at least three races during the heats stage, followed by a semi final and grand final. In between races there will be time to enjoy everything else that the festival has to offer. Entry includes dragon boats, qualified helms and all racing equipment, at least 3 races per team, medals for the winning crew and trophies for the top 3 teams.

So grab your paddles and get involved!

Dragon boat team members must be aged 12 or older and over 130cm tall.

N.B. Team tickets are available at full price or community rate. Community rate tickets are only available to community organisations and charities. Teams from non-charitable organisations or members of the general public must pay the full price ticket. For any queries please email festival@glasgowcanalproject.com
