Hyde Festival Theatre presents this new musical play which it commissioned from award winning writer Rob Johnston, from an original concept by Peter Wright. The play takes us to the last few months of 1960's icon Janis Joplin's life. Janis tragically died from a drugs overdose on 4th October 1970 at the age of 27. She shunned the inward looking, conformist life of Port Arthur, Texas where she is still revered today. Featuring 14 songs from her back catalogue, this one woman play takes us on the roller coaster that was Janis Joplin's life. Janis will be played by Liverpool actor LINZI MATTHEWS, whose credits include Blood Brothers (West End and national tour), Loot at Hull Truck and the hugely popular pantomimes at Oldham Coliseum. Her TV credits include Eyes Down with Sheridan Smith, BAFTA-award winning Warriors with Matthew McFadden and Damien Lewis and appearances in Coronation Street.
