Monday @ The Mills: Coleridge's Intellectual Legacy in America

Coleridge's Intellectual Legacy in America

Dr Philip Aherne, Highgate School

This paper will consider the last third of Coleridge's life, when he lived in Highgate and became something of a celebrity, holding weekly audiences in his house on The Grove, where people travelled from all over to listen to him lecture.  It will look at the works Coleridge produced during this period, examine his intellectual process and assess how this shaped his influence in America, before reflecting on the significance Highgate held for those who admired him.

Talks take place on Mondays at 7pm in the AV Room in the Mills Centre. Refreshments, including wine, are available from 6.30 pm and afterwards.
