We want everyone to have the opportunity to learn how to make Videogames. This five week course will teach you exactly that. There is one course for 11 to 16 year olds (11am to 1pm) and one for those over 16 (1.30 to 3.30pm). Each course lasts for five weeks and you need to book a ticket for each week.
The course will teach you some of the fundamental skills required to start making video games. We will introduce you to industry standard software including Maya and the Unreal Engine, all of which you begin learning to use. Across the sessions you will learn how to create your own artwork using a graphics tablet, create 3D models and textures using Maya, and script gameplay using the Unreal Engine. By the end of the workshops you will have created your first video game prototype, ready to share at the games jam!
This five week course is perfect for beginners who want a fun introduction to video game development and is a great foundation should you want to continue learning further. Huddersfield Girl Geeks workshops are aimed at those who identify as female but are open to all.
Reminder: The sessions are organised via age group. The 11am - 1pm session is for 11 to 16 year olds and the 1.30pm - 3.30pm session is for those 16 and over. This is a five week course and you should book a ticket for each of the five sessions, as you will be developing your work each week.
