This new play from award winning writer Rob Johnston, from an original concept by Peter Wright, takes us to the last few months of 1960’s icon, Janis Joplin’s, life. Janis tragically died from a drug overdose on October 4th 1970 at the age of 27. She shunned the inward looking, conformist life of Port Arthur, Texas, where she always felt she was an outsider, to become one of rock music’s greatest ever performers who is still revered today. Featuring 14 songs from her back catalogue, this one woman play takes on the emotional roller coaster that was Janis Joplin’s life.
Janis will be played by Linzi Matthews whose credits include Blood Brothers (West End & national tour), Loot at Hull Truck and at Oldham Coliseum in their hugely popular pantomimes. Her TV credits include Coronation St and Warriors.
