Lunchtime Talk: Edmund Smith - A Biographical Account

Leeds Central Library, Sanderson Room, 3rd Floor, Leeds, LS1 3AB
Wed 25th September 2019
Join Richard Smith to explore the varied life of his Great-Grandfather Edmund Smith, who moved to Leeds in 1857: his success as a self-made businessman, followed by family tragedy and scandal.

Richard Smith is a qualified and experienced History Teacher and author of ‘A Saga of Smiths: An Epic Family History’ – a work that he took twenty years to complete. This Family History began as a response to his father's death in April 1999, being finally completed in April 2019 following his mother’s death during the previous November. Ambitious in scope, it traces key family members – some of whom were 'larger than life' characters with an exceptional talent for business. Its pages portray some 'strong-minded' women whose lasting influence has been felt down the generations. ‘A Saga of Smiths' covers a timescale of over one thousand years.
