Summer Solstice Festival 2019
Since 2012, the Summer Solstice Festival has been an annual feature on the SAA-uk programme, ending the Spring/Summer concert season. This year we are back with a quartet of acclaimed artists to take you through the longest day of the summer.
A joining of artists, sounds and instruments, Jugalbandi will open the evening with a unique duet between Kirpal Singh Panesar and Kaviraj Singh accompanied by Shri Kousic Sen. Beginning with a slow, soothing alaap, the artists will take us on a journey of melodies, rhythm and speed on their respective instruments.
The three musicians will be joined on stage by King of Kathak Pt. Rajendra Gangani for a wondrous display of virtuosity, joy and exuberance for the second half of the evening. The trio together with Pt. Rajendra Gangani marks the coming together of internationally renowned artists who are sure to provide the magic at the Summer Solstice Festival.
A special meal by Afsaneh’s Persian Kitchen (not included in ticket price) will be available before the show. To avoid disappointment book your place in advance by getting in touch with Seven Arts Leeds.
With melody, rhythm, music and dance, we hope you come and join us in this unforgettable annual experience.
