Jesu Membra Nostri

Jesu Membra Nostri

Dietrich Buxtehude and other Choral Music for Passiontide

Tom Williams Conductor

David Cowen Organ

with Leicestershire Camerata and Leicester Cathedral Choir

April 2019 sees the renewal of our fruitful partnership with Leicester Cathedral, their Director of Music Christopher Ouvry-Johns and the talented singers of the Cathedral choir. Following acclaimed performances of Bach’s St John Passion and Rosenmüller’s Vespers alongside the Cathedral Youth Choir and Chamber Choir, we now give a joint concert alongside the main Cathedral Choir. Leicestershire Chorale will sing the beautiful music of Dietrich Buxtehude’s Jesu membra nostri, a cycle of seven short cantatas each addressed to a different part of Christ’s crucified body. Amongst the cantatas, the Cathedral Choir will intersperse music for Passiontide from their regular liturgical repertoire.
