ODD MAN OUT (1947) - Ireland on Screen

Deptford Cinema, Lewisham, SE8 4PQ
Sun 17th December 2017

From the director of The Third Man, and staring James Mason, Odd Man Out is one of the most compelling and fascinating British films made about Ireland. Although the politics are not to the fore, this post war thriller of a bank robbery gone wrong and a man on the run, was controversial and critically acclaimed.

Odd Man Out is a film of night in Belfast that would be the template for more recent films, Thaddeus O'Sullivan's Nothing Personal and Yann Demange's '71. We will be screening those films in the new year.

Ireland on Screen is our regular look at representations of Ireland and Irish subjects in film and moving image. We are currently focusing on works relating to Northern Ireland.
