Markson Pianos 2019 Concert Series - #5 - Duo Seula
Biography for Duo Seula
Comprised of two exciting, prize winning young musicians - Abigail Heath (Clarinet) and Rachael Ueckermann (Piano), Duo Seula are committed to sharing music in an accessible, active and engaging way.
Abi and Rachael studied at some of London’s finest Music Colleges and both hold Master’s Degrees in Music Performance. Between them, they have played alongside orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, and in many major venues across the city, including Blackheath Halls, Armourers Hall, St Brides, The Barbican Centre and The Royal Albert Hall at the Proms on several occasions.
In addition to their extensive experience as soloists and ensemble musicians, their concert career as a duo, has enabled Abi and Rachael to perform across the UK, allowing them to share their vast repertoire and boundless enthusiasm for the music they love.
Most recent highlights include their recital as part of a showcase for The Zetland Foundation and the educational project they led at Theatre in the Fields Festival.
Duo Seula are passionate about making classical music accessible to everyone and are experienced educational workshop practitioners. In the coming year, they are hoping to develop a project to take music into prisons and lead creative workshops for inmates.
The name of the Duo was inspired by the meaning of ‘Seula’, which is ‘little she-bear’. Abi and Rachael love the imagery of this – something powerful and captivating, with the freedom of creativity that all young things have: for them, the most important parts of being a musician.
