Beethoven’s Septet, and a Boccherini Sonata are included in a programme that discovers marvellous works by Chevalier de Saint-George, the first classical composer of African ancestry and by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, lauded in his day as the ‘African Mahler’.
Chineke! founded by Chi-chi Nwanoku, to champion change and celebrate ethnic diversity in classical music, has made a considerable impact with performances at the BBC Proms, the Southbank and Bridgewater Hall.
