The Norwich Players
Towards Zero by Agatha Christie
Set entirely outdoors, on a cliff top at Gulls Point, this is Christie’s own adaptation of her celebrated 1944 detective novel, the final outing of the redoubtable Superintendant Battle.
When Lady Tressilian invites her ward for a long weekend at her seaside home, she’s surprised to discover he’s bringing both his old flame and his current wife. The atmosphere turns from awkward to decidedly deathly when a brutal murder interrupts the house party. A local police inspector and his holidaying uncle, the moustachioed Superintendant Battle, must unravel a mystery that will draw them into the dark psychology of jealousy and revenge.
This version of the nail-biting thriller was adapted for the stage in 1945 by the Queen of Crime herself and only discovered four years ago in a pile of dusty old papers. The Norwich Players are proud to present its regional premiere.
