Intro to Improv (January Intensive Weekend)

Sat 26th January 2019
Malt Cross, Nottingham, NG1 6FG

This is our introduction to the wonderful world of improvised comedy theatre! Complete beginners are more that welcome – you don’t need experience in improv, acting, comedy, or performing! You don’t need to be “funny”, witty, or clever either – you just need to turn up ready to jump in and have fun.

Each class starts with a fun, silly warm-up!

We pride ourselves on creating a fun, friendly, and supportive atmosphere for our courses, so you feel at ease to learn, play, and be yourself from the moment you step in the door.

Improv’s not about one person, it’s about working as a team to create something together (and have the best time doing it)!

This course is perfect if you want to explore and pursue improv further, or if you just want to take a chance on learning something different. Not only will it give you the building blocks for for this wonderful growing art form, but you'll also develop transferable skills like public speaking, listening, and social skills in a friendly, supportive environment.

What is improv?

Improv (or impro) is short for improvised comedy theatre. It's the art of creating theatre spontaneously on stage: building scenes, playing games, and even creating whole shows with no preparation, no script, and no preplanning. Improv has a wide range of types, from popular 90s TV show Whose Line is it Anyway? -style games, to fully improvised plays, musicals, and so much more.

MissImp are one of the longest running open-to-all improv communities in the country, and have been providing high quality improv (both performance and tuition) for 20 years.

This course is designed to give you a grounding in all the basic skills you'd need to conquer any kind of improv you come across!
