R Strauss                       Ein Heldenleben

The festival finale is given by the first national youth orchestra to be established in the world which this year celebrates its 70th birthday.  The ferociously talented young players perform two titans of the orchestral repertoire.  Bartók’s Concerto offers a procession of vibrant rhythms, spine-tingling harmonies and rich orchestral colour whilst Strauss’s musical epic tells of a hero’s life in six dramatic episodes of impressive proportions.
