Spanish Renaissance Masters

This the second in our series of 'Masters' concerts features glittering choral treasures by Spanish composers from the time of El Greco and Velasquez.  In particular, it focuses on the music of Victoria and Guerrero, with Victoria's sublime 8-part Missa Salve as the centrepiece of the concert. Other motets by Victoria include Alma Redemptoris Mater, Regina Caeli Laetare, Ave Maria and Ave Maris Stella.  Works by Guerrero include Duo Seraphim Clamabant a 12, Pastores Loquebantur and Regina Caeli Laetare.  Lobo and Vivanco are also represented. In addition to these intensely beautiful sacred works, the choir will sing some jaunty secular pieces to complete the choral treats on offer. We are also delighted to be joined by award-winning classical guitarist Zoe Barnett who will play unaccompanied works by Bach and Villa-Lobos.  For the Canarios from Rodrigo's Fantasia para un Gentilhombre, Zoe will be accompanied by Karen Kingsley.
