'Trouser-Wearing Characters'

Carpenter Room, Sheffield City Library, Sheffield, S1 1XZ
Fri 26th February 2016 7:00PM

Rose Collis brings her acclaimed one-woman musical cabaret show to Sheffield Central Library as part of an Arts Council-funded tour for LGBT History Month 2016.

'Trouser-Wearing Characters' is the first ever musical cabaret show written and performed by a British female author. This original entertainment, written and performed by one of Sussex’s favourite personalities, is a unique mixture of music, history and comedy. It combines stories, vignettes and songs about some of her favourite, eclectic LGBT ‘trouser-wearing characters’, from Nancy Spain to Colonel Barker, stage legend Dougie Byng to the ‘f**king lady’ herself, Coral Browne.

The original production was directed by Matt Thompson, 2016 version directed by Kinny Gardner B.C.A.a

All performances will be followed by informal Q&A sessions with Rose Collis and opportunities to buy books by her.

Trouser-Wearing Characters is a highly-entertaining and personal piece of cabaret theatre that will be appreciated by a broad audience.’ Theatre Review New Zealand

‘It’s a pleasure to spend an hour with Rose Collis and her tales of masculine women and feminine men, a look at the gay British sub culture of the last century.’ Adelaide Advertiser
